Lounge Access

Quick question--

My sister is flying from LA to Bali via Hong Kong--first class to Hong Kong then business class to Bali. Her husband will be in economy. Can they both access the first class lounge in Hong Kong while in transit? I looked at the oneworld page, and it was vague on this situation. Sorry if this has been asked before--I couldn't find it in search.

Strictly speaking only the passenger in F/J is allowed into the lounge if you are using class of travel to enter the lounge. Does your husband have OW status (Sapphire/Emerald)? If not, you're out of luck.

The only way they will both be allowed into the F class lounge in HK is if either of them hold OW Emerald status. Your sister is entitled both ways.

No! At least in LAX, the husband can access the lounge. F pax are allowed to have one guest per CX policy. It was written in one of the MPO magazine a couple of years ago.

First class pax can bring in one guest.

If either of them is OW Emerald or Sapphire then one more pax as well.

Other than that, no.

Just curious, but how does the situation arise where one spouse end up in F while the other in Y?

I think I would be more incredulous if the husband were in F and the wife in Y. I know that wouldn't fly with Mrs. brenc3.

My wife already warned me if I got upgraded as GO member and she didn't, I better learn to say no.

You need not say no. Just take it and swap with your wife. It is unlikely that she will say no. She will be happy, and possibly you will be too (for the journey).;)
