cx.com change card of payment?

Now that I've gotten my new CX AMEX with the corresponding into promo, i'm wondering if I can change the card for payment for a previously ticked ticket (on cx.com)? I had to ticket to beat the ticketing deadline....

If your previous payment was done by Visa or Mastercard and was not done using the 3-D Password security, then they will ask for your credit card at check in. You could conveniently "forget" to bring that card and then they will ask for a new card to charge and refund your old payment.

However, you won't get any of the online booking bonus points for this.

If your previous payment was Verified by Visa or Mastercard Securecode verified, then I don't know how you might do this.

crap: you reminded me why I have to do this. I want the online bonus. then again, at least I can get 2x miles there. (ticket not the same name with the card holder. problem there re online bonus?)

So u'd pay the same fare if you forgot to bring the card?

would it work if i call up e-booking center n ask them to change my payment method?

Has CX drawn down the credit limit on your Visa/MC? If yes, then tough. If not, you might still have a chance!

Try calling e-services which is 2747-2200 in HK...

I don't think you can. I had a similar ordeal with Zuji HK (online travel agent) about a promotion for Visa when I paid with MasterCard. I asked if they could refund the paid sum to my MC and charge my Visa but they said no due to credit card company technical issues.

They can EASILY do it but it is subject to the person you get on the phone...

if u make an issue about it (nicely) you WILL get your job done...

i've been told "no, funds have been placed on hold with ur bank(AMEX) when u made the booking on cx.com"

I wonder, if it's her incompetency, or it's sth cx won't be bothered doing.

Check whether it is true with whatever non-CX card she was meant to draw down with. If funds not drawn down, suspend your non-CX card (if your non-CX bank allows suspensions) and make them contact you. If funds drawn down, then it's very difficult for them to reverse the transaction - I have not been successful in similar circumstances (other merchants not CX).

oh, for completeness she even said the card need not be shown upon checkin. (i pulled a lie saying the card is lost hoping then i could change the card)

I've just done a payment on cathaypacific.com online today to clear everyone off my redemption group. My limit was drawn down right away.

I made a redemption on the Friday two weeks ago (before today's SM redemption). My limit was not drawn down until Tuesday.

If you have pull then I guess they can reverse the transaction and charge kaka's new card, theoretically. But it will cost them, both time and money (reversal admin charge) - you have to probably be a pretty senior MPO to do that.

I don't think that information is correct. I believe that the card always needs to be shown at first-sector checkin unless it is a VbV or Securecode enabled transaction.

I've had a case before where someone I was travelling with did not bring the credit card used to book their ticket and CX checkin counter told them to go to ticketing counter and pay again for the ticket using another card and they would issue a refund to the original card.
