No more I class

Seems CX stopped I class some time ago on Asia to Europe routes, anyone got any more details on this, however their D class is still way cheaper than BA

I class fares from HKG to Europe are very rare and are only introduced as special promotions typically prices at around $22,000+.

That cheap? I can see why they stopped it.

If you are flying ex-MNL/CEB, you can still buy I class fares from TA's here depending on availability, but if you purchase from CX office/website, you will be quoted J class which is almost double than I. Normal I class fares with taxes will cost you something like US$3200 RT

Last month our company purchased an I class ticket HKG-FRA-HKG for around $34000 including tax.

Not trying to Hijack the thread, but i specifically came to this forum because I am trying to book LHR-AKL for myself and mrs globalste and my problem seems very related to this thread.

I was considering booking LHR-SYD with BA using an Amex companion voucher and then jumping a LAN flight to AKL, but BA are reducing their number of flights to SYD and availability is an absolute nightmare.

So next option is BA flying LHR-HKG and then grabbing a CX flight to AKL.

The problem:

I only seem to be able to book fully-flexible J fares to AKL at a cost of HK$49k each!! No C, D or I fares. This is for February 2011.

This is far more than it is for me to buy a LHR-AKL flight in Business using BA/QF (current quote is HK$33k each)

EDIT: I just tried LHR-AKL and that only comes up with fully-flex J for all legs. I dont get it...

There was an I-fare sale one month ago for HKG-LHR roundtrip for HKD29500+tax and fuel surcharge

Special fares are not usually available so far in advance!

That is what I am missing so much and also V Class + 60k to be in U. (good old days for me)

Now the economy seems fully recovered (by looking at the availability of 251/5 solely).

I class is there

If I class does not exist, how did I manage last night to book I class to London?

Guy Betsy Feb 26, 2010 12:52 am

As "I" class is not officially a published fare, it appears as and when CX deems that it is appropriate for that market, and for that time of the year.

It is not consistent out of a particular market. But "I" fares still exists.
