Help me choose

I'm currently looking at several potential itineraries and am having trouble making a choice. I would appreciate some help from the knowledgeable FT community in making a decision. :cool:

First flight: Business class
SFO -> HKG
or
LAX -> HKG

The SFO flight is one a Boeing 747 while the LAX flight is on a Boeing 777. Any opinions on which one to fly? Is the SFO 747 the new updated cabin or the older one?

Second flight:
HKG -> TPE

There are two options for this flight. A Boeing 777 or an Airbus A330. Any idea which one is "nicer"?

Appreciate the help!

Sorry cant help for the US flights but for HKG-TPE have you considered a KA flight? Especially on the 320 aircraft; only 4 seats in the J cabin and the service is extremely personal / attentive.

All 744s have the new cabin now. And since CX is wanting to phase 777s onto the North American routes, I would take the 747 just for the novelty.

I second the 747.

The upper deck J seats are bigger than those on the Airbus or 777 - about 6 inches or so longer.

Thanks for your post, but we really appreciate it when people take the time to read our FAQ - the 747 question can be answered with a quick 1 minute scan, while searching this forum will yield countless threads about the difference between the 747 cabin and 777 one, particularly in J and F class.

As QRC3288 mentioned, this has been asked and discussed almost every week. The sticky about CX will give you good comprehensive overview of what you will experience. Several recent threads will answer your question about the "74A" and "77A". ;)

In general, there isn't much difference between 74A and 77A except for the upstairs factor, but people tend to favor SFO over LAX for a MUCH better transfer experience.

Thanks for the information. I apologize for posting something so repetitive.

I just booked a trip through SFO on the upper deck, went with the 777 for the shorter portion of my trip.

I agree. I hate flying through LAX. The walk to/through immigration coming in is ridiculously long and eerie looking.

It's most likely (although by no means certain) that the 777 to TPE will be a regional one not a long haul one, just in case you hadn't realised that.

Thanks for the concern. I called their Taipei CSR and they said it's a 773, oh well, it's only a 1.5hr flight.

I flew on a 77A TPE-HKG once last August.

For HKG TPE shuttle they grab whatever on ground for that, basically you get random anything

Also here's been report that some of the KA operated TPE run got operated by wetleasted CX flight
