Loo problems on some CX flights...

Strange loo problems on some CX aircrafts ...!

....The problem has been so serious that one flight from Riyadh had to land in Mumbai when the crew discovered none of the plane's 10 toilets were working....

I was wondering how come it only affects the Airbus planes while the Boeing planes are not affected? Imagine if the entire A380 plane toilets (which the other airlines are operating) are down!

On my recent flights, the aircraft was the 777ER. One of the coach class toilet was out of service on both flights.

I wonder if the problem lies with CX or the aircraft? Have other airlines experienced consistent problems with their washrooms?

I suspect the problem lies with a newish and rapidly increasing demographic of CX's customer base who basically aren't house-trained.

But that's the price you pay when you take an airline downmarket as fast as the current CX management has.

More pictorial notices and in multiple languages in the washrooms would help. ;)

I just saw a rag - have no idea where it came from - stuffed into the toilet the other day on KA in Y, PEK-HKG. I got out, told and FA and went into another one.

Unless they've installed new toilets, then this must either be:

1. Indicative of the types of passengers now flying CX or
2. The food CX is feeding these people :)

Reported in the South China Morning Post earlier. They're blaming it on the passengers, throwing towels/toys/blankets etc. down the toilet as well as the new cleaning procedure introduced six months (or weeks? sorry, forgot) ago. However, Dragonair flights are using the same cleaning method and still no blockage. As a preventive measure, they're removing cloth towels from toilets.

I was on a FCO-HKG CX flight about 5 months ago and a few hours into the flight and half of the toilets were "closed" due to a technical problem (I think that is what the pilot announced). The plane was about 80-90% full. It didn't cause any major issues, just a few larger lines than normal. Am certain it was a 747 and not a Airbus.

Maybe CX can introduce a new product called a "CXcrement Plus". For USD $100 or 20,000 AMs, people who pay this fee can use a specially reserved toilet with seperate plumbing lines. SL, GO, DM and people who paid for a bulkhead seat can use CXcrement Plus free of charge.

Oh, and according to CX regulations, there has to be at least 1:80 ratio for toilets otherwise the flight will be cancelled per SCMP.

it's really amazing what one can find in the waste tanks....UNBELIEVABLE!!!

South China Morning Post "PoliticalAnimal" today.

How to stop toilet blockages from leaking
First it was the blocking of toilets on Cathay flights. Now the news of any similar mishaps in the future will also be blocked - although not, we assume, by the same substances. In his latest weekly memo to staff, director of flight operation Nick Rhodes said he was "no longer able to share too much information" with his colleagues after his report of a series of mysterious toilet blockages on its Airbus fleet was leaked to the Sunday Morning Post last week. "We will just have to explore other forums to share the news - maybe the chief pilots' newsletters," Rhodes wrote. So how much further can the airline go to prevent passengers finding out about such fundamental matters? Perhaps doing away with the "occupied" signs could be the next step?
:td: to censorship

Further backing of the above, the 1:80 lav. policy is internal.
