Help with seating and CX flights
 

I haven't flown with CX for a very long time so I'm totally unfamiliar with the seating layout or how to maximise my upcoming long flights. My trip is JFK-HKG-SIN (all in J) and BKK-HKG-JFK with the last sector in F. I'm traveling with my partner.

We've the following seats assigned:
JFK-HKG 12D, 12G
HKG-SIN 14A, 14C
BKK-HKG 14A, 14C
HKG-JFK 1A, 1K

Any thoughts on whether we should change our seats or anything else to enjoy the flight please don't hesitate to let me know.

HKG to JFK is flown by a 77A, meaning that if you have 1A and 1K, you'll be separated by 1D, which is in the middle. If you want two seats on the same row, 1D and 1K open up in the same direction. However, you still can't see each other when you're sitting down. But IMO, I would choose 1A and 2A, which means that only the two of you are on the left side of the cabin. You can get up and dine with your partner during meals if you like.

You won't be able to see or talk to your partner due to a wall separating the two seats.

You'd probably be better off getting seats in the same "column" e.g. 12/14D where one of you can stand up and [attempt to] lean over the partition.

You picked the wrong airline for travelling in J with a partner. In long haul J on CX you travel on your own.

For the F sector as others have said, I would go for 1A 2A.
