I'm wondering the same. Looking at a stay in Springfield, MA and AAA rate is $90 and Double Points rate is $109. If they did stack, it would be 3,465 more points for the higher rate with the silver bonus which works out to around $0.0055 per point. It's a work trip and I've got flexibility to book either rate at no expense to myself.
Well, book the dbl points rate then and let us all know if it can be combined.

The double points rate stacked with the 3x points promo, and overall for a one night stay I ended up with 104 points per $! Downside is that I had to drive an extra 20 minutes after 9 hours of flying/layovers compared to staying at another hotel (probably the Sheraton). Also added that extra 20 minutes on my drive in the morning heading to the client site.
