There is a Westin on St. John USVI. While there is not snorkeling at the Westin beach, the island has fantastic snorkeling from MANY of its beaches.
On St. Thomas, there is a Marriott and a Ritz Carlton. We have stayed at both. I didn't snorkel at either but there are many snorkeling spots off of St. Thomas beaches.

Which island did you enjoy more?

STJ is first in our hearts as we stayed for years at Caneel Bay before renting villas. We never stayed at the Westin but did rent houses in the immediate neighborhood.
we stayed at the Marriott twice on the way to STJ. We used points and it was fine. It’s hard to criticize a free stay in the Virgin Islands but the facility feels like any generic Florida resort.
Our most recent stay on STT were nights on the front and back end of a crewed charter. Again we used points and stayed at the Ritz Carlton. It was at 100% capacity and a zoo each stay.
we prefer STJ because it is more quiet but it is an island that requires effort. You need to rent a jeep to get to the beaches, beaches that have no services aside from the snack bars at Cimmanom and Trunk, there is great shore snorkeling on STJ.

Marriott on St. Thomas (Frenchman's) was wiped out by Hurricane, and will be reopening (they say in April) as a Westin. The Morningstar which was on the beach also to be reopening as an Autograph collection with a new name. We stayed when it was Morningstar -- was nice, the new hotel I think will be brand new, because Morningstar was wiped out by the Hurricane. But having stayed at both of them, there is no comparison to the quality of the beach and the snorkeling of the Westin Grand Cayman.
