St Lucia - Am I going Nutty?

We went to St Lucia for Christmas vacation to stay with some old friends who retired there - my question is quite simple. We flew from LGW by BA on a 777. There were 32 seats in Club World on the way out, so reasonably roomy for club. Yet on the return leg, it seemed more 'cramped' and just out of curiosity I checked and there were 40 seats! Did I count the right number on the outbound leg? Am I going nutty?

It looks like there are BA 777 configurations with 32 business class seats and with 48 business class seats (I am talking about configurations without F seats).

Yes, there are numerous 777 configurations, and LGW has most of them! It's always been something of a lottery as to what you got on any particular day.

cheltzel has posted the link to the options, although of course some are route dependent. Our only F was to St Lucia, which added another configuration to the mix!

Ah, thank you both - that makes more sense! Will be worth checking out 'plane configurations for any future bookings, if that's possible. Glad to know that my maths has not gone out the window!

Checking configuration at the time of booking/selecting seats is merely step 1 of the Lottery. It's not unusual to have 1 or 2 airframe changes right up to the last minute, sadly.

+1

You may need to note the aircraft registration number when you board (unless you have one of the subscription services like flightradar24) so you can look up the actual config online.

But by then it's too late!!

We try to book seats that are slightly less susceptible to airframe changes, and certainly re-check before completing OLCI and thus being committed!
