COVID Testing at Dominican Republic airports post July 30 2020

For those that came through DR by plane since July 30 2020 what are your stories of being able to demonstrate a PCR test reault within 5 days of travel or be tested on arrival by the government authorities?

TripAdvisor forums have some great commentary although anything specific to the testing process is being unilaterally removed by the mods there. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g147293-i28-Punta_Cana_La_Altagracia_Province_Dominican_Republ ic.html

Curious to know for those who demonstrated their own test to the authorities how that worked out and any first or second hand accounts of those that tested positive on arrival (E.G. Allowed to quarantine at resort? Sent to a gulag? Ha)

hahaha

More likely some questions including “Are you carrying more than $10,000 in cash, Senor?”

On a more serious note, having just booked a holiday in the DR for next Feb [through BA Holidays] the Entry restrictions are now minimal wef 15 September ... to encourage tourism.
travelers no longer need to provide a negative PCR or COVID-19 test upon arrival. Instead, airports and other ports of entry will administer a quick, aleatory breath test to between 3% and 10% of passengers, and all those who present symptoms, upon arrival. All passengers will also need to perform a temperature check.
Fuller details at >>> https://www.godominicanrepublic.com/...m/coronavirus/

The DR Government is also providing a FREE Covid-19 travel Assistance plan until 31 Dec 20 ... link in the 3rd paragraph of the link above.

We also have a holiday booked, for the second half of December. Read all I could find, seemed reasonable so decided to book an escape from the grey winter in Europe. In all honesty, for peace of mind, I am thinking of voluntarily doing a PCR test and bringing it along, the cost of €100 is definitely worth making.

(Our initial intention was to go to the Maldives, however the infection rate has blown up recently, as a result of which the risk level was raised to the highest and is therefore a no-go for me. On the top of that, EY cancelled two of our four flights, resulting in connections of more than 24 hours, which currently is not allowed. So at the end we cancelled everything and will look at it once again next year.)
