German citizen traveling to Bermuda

I'm making reservations for a German friend, who is a German citizen and resident of the U.S. for the past 20 years. Is her German passport plus her green card enough to visit Bermuda? Or do you think she will also need a visa or visa waiver? On the reservation, American Airlines' website seems to indicate that she will: "U.S. Visa Waiver Program. Prior to checking in, German residents need travel authorization from U.S. Customs and Border Protection. You can submit an application and check the status on the ESTA website." Additionally, is there some other tourist visa Bermuda requires from EU citizens? She didn't need any of these things (just her German passport and her green card ) on a trip to Mexico. Any advice most appreciated!

No visa required. EU citizens do not require visas to visit Bermuda, just make certain to have an ESTA or ETA if transitting via the USA or Canada.

She is not a German resident so that is not applicable.

The point is that the only way out of Bermuda is to the US, UK or Canada, so Bermuda immigration needs to know they are admissible to the country they plan to go to when departing. As AA flies to the US, they require German citizens who are resident in Germany to have the right documents for entry to the US.

Thus, a green card should suffice.

I visited Bermuda several times over the last eight years as a UK citizen with a US Green Card. Never any issues.

When you departed, was it on the BA flight to LGW or one of the US carriers to a US destination?
