Best Weekend James Bond Type Bahamas Getaway ?

So I fell in love with the "One & Only Ocean Club" after watching Casino Royale, and after a rough year end I'm looking for the perfect Bahamas beach front weekend location.

Palm trees, sea breeze, general pampering, and lots of Martinis - that type of thing.

So would you recommend the Ocean Club or is there somewhere better ?

(It doesn't have to be Nassau)

Not sure if this idea will be any good for you, but noone else is posting!

Personally I would avoid Nassau, or just do a couple of days there on the way to the out islands. It is very americanized and full of cruise ships etc, you may as well be in florida.

We have been to most of the islands and can recommend exuma.

Accomodation wise you have sandals or grand isle resort for pampering and all inclusive style, not something we do though, we tend to rent a villa and a car and get out and explore all the great empty beaches.

Things to do there:
Pig roast on a sunday at chat n chill, hire a boat and mess around in the harbour, or just get a water taxi.
swimming pigs tour, this is a full day tour to see the swimming pigs, nurse sharks at either staniel cay or compass cay (dependng which tour you use)
see wild iguanas on their own cay, and finally thunderball grotto, an underwater cave where they filmed thunderball.
you also have the turtles at hoopers bay.

Thanks I'll check it out - it's funny, one of the girls I work with was talking about those swimming pigs recently, apparently it's her dream trip.

Thanks ian_s! That's super helpful info. I'm planning a long weekend to the Bahamas (probably arrive Thurs and return Sunday) and trying to figure out where to stay and spend the most time. Exuma looks amazing. I basically just want to relax in super clear water, enjoy some good food and drinks (casual preferred) and get out for some great snorkeling. Do you think I should stay in Great Exuma the whole time or is there somewhere else you'd recommend? Will probably fly into Nassau and then take the short commuter flight from there out to Exuma, so I guess I could do a night on the outbound or return in Nassau, but not sure that it's worth it. As you mentioned, it looks a little Disney World-ish. Thanks!

Having been there, I can highly recommend it! It's a beautiful resort.
