Dipping my toe in the Caribbean
Hi all
As the title suggests I'm looking for suggestions for a first trip to the Carribean. We're thinking of May for 10days or so. Neither of us are huge lovers of lying by pool / beach so there has to be stuff to do. We'll be flying from DUB so a one stop via London / US would be preferable
Thanks

Nassau, Bahamas - historic downtown area is nice, there's a decent casino at Atlantis and it's a bit further north than most of the Carribean islands so it likely won't be too hot in May.

Maybe Barbados. I am sure you can get non-stop from London. Also Tobago was a lot of fun, again non-stop from London.m More things than just the beach.
Have you thought of a cruise? That way you see several places and can decide if you want to go back at a later date to stay longer. Lot's to do on a cruise if you choose.

For clarification, the Bahamas is in the Atlantic not the Caribbean, although I'm guessing this makes little difference to the OP's request.
May is generally a nice time to travel to the area as it's not my idea of "hot" anywhere and hurricane season hasn't started.
Culturally, I think Mexico has more to offer than the Caribbean, in general. And you can certainly get your "fix" with the water in the Yucatan.
If the Caribbean is the goal, you might consider a little island hopping in the lower Caribbean.
