Guadeloupe or Martinique?

I am between jobs for a little bit at flights on Norwegian out of JFK are ridiculously cheap... yes I know what to expect with regard to the flights (just need to pack light ). Has anyone ever been to Pointe--Pitre, Guadeloupe (PTP) or Fort-de-France, Martinique (FDF)? Looking for a quick, cheap beach getaway... would you pick one over the other?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Both are quite similar (and also different), but you wouldnt notice the differences if you stay a few days.

Do you have a driving license ? Because commutation there is a nightmare with public transportation
