Can I import Cuban cigars into the U.S.?

Persons authorized to travel to Cuba may purchase alcohol and tobacco products while in Cuba for personal consumption while there. Authorized travelers may return to the United States with up to $100 worth of alcohol and/or tobacco products acquired in Cuba in accompanied baggage, for personal use only.

Visit CBP.gov CBP Public Notice on Process for Imports From Cuba for more information on the requirements for authorized imports under the Cuban Assets Control Regulations.

Purchasing Cuban-origin cigars and/or Cuban-origin rum or other Cuban-origin alcohol over the internet or while in a third country (i.e. not Cuba) remains prohibited.

I was there last week and hadn't left the cruise dock before I was approached by a "cigar dealer". They used to try and tempt me with weed and coke. I must be looking too old these days.

I spotted a couple stores on Bay Street where they could be purchased, including, I think, a jewelry store and a liquor store. Just walk down the street and peer in the doors. I don't smoke so didn't look at prices but haggling should be acceptable.

At the very least, you could smoke a couple while there. I noted a few cigar smokers out on deck 6 after we left Nassau.

Most " Cuban " cigars sold anywhere other than reputable stores and even some of them are fake.
Unless you're really going for the cream of the Cuban crop at top dollar prices I'd recommend a decent smoke from the Dominican Republic.

Jewelry Shops, Hole in the wall Cigar shops, Tourist Shops?- No

Don't waste your time with any store but a "Casa Del Habano". This is the marketing arm of the Cuban gov. If you are offered cigars for anything under 35-40 USD each, they are fake.
I recommend the Romeo & Julieta Churchill's. They are my favorite.
