USD bills in Dominican Republic

Possibly silly question:

When I travel in South America, exchanges can be somewhat fussy about the state of dollar bills.

Does the same apply in the Caribbean?

Do I need to try and get nice, clean, uncreased bills for my trip to Punta Cana?

I've had one pretty nasty bill refused in Santo Domingo (but to be fair, it was also refused in PR which uses the dollar), but otherwise, I've had no problems with average to good quality bills.

I tend to have USD $100 available the whole time, and just make ATM withdrawals in pesos. But exchange them before you leave, because DOP$ are ridiculously hard to get rid of once you're outside.
