Montego Bay ?
Just booked a flight there for May. We only need passports, correct? Also, any suggestions for a family with an 8 & 10 year old. We are going to stay at the Holiday Inn all inclusive resort.

Any advice at all? I have never flown out of the country with the kids & haven't gone anywhere myself other than Canada in the past 10 years. I am really looking forward to this trip, so any advice would be appreciated.

I am a Canuck, but I have some familiarity with Jamaica immigration requirements. You will only need passports for entering Jamaica. If you arrive in MBJ on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday don't be surprised to see very long lines for immigration, however the lines move fairly quickly.
Transportation is also very well organized. If you are on a package, bus transport will be included, othrwise you can take a taxi or arrange a taxi through your hotel in advance.
The Holiday Inn has everything your kids will need for a vacation, however there are excursions available: Dunn's River Falls, rafting, great house tour, etc.
Enjoy your trip.

Official taxis dispatched from the airport are safe and reliable. Your hotel is not too far. I have been to the Hilton Rose Hall twice and took local taxis both times. With my wife and daughter, we were put into a small bus, but charged the normal taxi fare.

We just got back from Disneyland for spring break & I can not wait for a relaxing beach vacation. Up until now, I always wanted to go, go, go on vacation. My wife has always pushed for something more relaxing, which we have also done. Now, I guess I am officially getting old & want that also.

The resort should offer a desk with excursions you can signup for, and if not you can book online as well. Chukka tours is a big company offering them, I think for that age group, the river tube tour, or maybe the dune buggy ride might be fun.

Looking at doing a mile run to MBJ, with a flight landing at 1:14 and departing the same day at 2:20. If all flights are on time will I have enough time to get through immigration to have my passport stamped or should I just stay in the terminal area.

It's a roll of the dice and I wouldn't recommend it unless you are willing to enjoy a night in Jamaica. You'll have lines at immigration and customs then immigration and security getting back in. There have been many times where I've breezed through all of the lines in just moments and other times where it can take an hour. Mid-day, expect the lines to be an hour.

Only way to get thru Fast is to pay for Mobay Club escort gets you VIP thru Immigration lines, breeze thru customs via the green line/ no declarations then hang a right outside and check in and run back to your gate

I just returned 30-35 days ago and there was passport control. Like other posters said, it really is a roll of the dice. I also have breezed through and other times spent a little over an hour. Remember that MBJ is predominately a leisure destination, so many resorts return the guests to the airport in more than enough time to get through check in, immigration, and screening. Based on this fact, there is rarely a sense of urgency. Not a good place for tight turns.

I was the first one off the plane, when we got to immigration there was no one there took maybe 5 minutes for the officer to check out my story with delta. Walked over to check in had the women at the counter print my boarding pass and went through security quite easily. Got the gate and they had not started boarding from our flight being late to arrive.
The flight attendants on this flight were so enjoyable and I met some wonderful people on my return flight. I will say it is a lesson learned being my first mileage run, next time I'll spend a day and take it all in.
