Any reason that the Experian credit score on the decision letter was 60pts lower (high 700s) than the score on Experian website (mid 800s)?

There are several FICO score models. Capital One may subscribe to a different model than the one that Experian shows to consumers.

Just curious: has anyone been denied for pre-approval for C1X but applied later anyway and successfully got the card?

My wife currently holds the Venture X card. Could she sign up for the normal Venture card and be eligible for the 75k + $250 sign up bonus?

Just curious, were you pre-approved for the card (checking via the tool)? I'm in the same scenario but the Venture card never shows up for me in pre-approval - only the VentureOne.

This was a few years ago but both wife and myself used the pre-approval tool and it showed Venture (not the X) as "good." We both applied for the Venture X and was approved.

I have a sightly different problem. Trying to have spouse (current Venture cardholder) refer me, former Venture cardholder (product changed to VentureOne). The pre-approval tool showed Venture X and VentureOne, but not the Venture. What's the deal with that? What would happen if I applied for the Venture again?

Which CRA report do I need to unlock to use the pre-approval tool? All 3?

Last time it rejected me because all my reports are locked.

Once proceeding with the pre-approval, I could select which of the venture cards I wanted to actually apply for...

As I was going to apply for Venture X, I unfroze all three bureaus.

I've decided the C1 VX and its current sub will work well with my travel plans for the rest of the year, and should pay for itself quickly. But, I am wondering about something.
We have been told that C1does a hard pull on all three agencies. But, when I check a summary of my credit history, I see a different story.
I applied for the C1 Venture only 1 year and ten months ago. Then last fall I applied for the Chase United Discovery and Barclay Aviator. But my Credit Wise score from Transunion shows only two hard pulls in the past two year. And yes, the verbiage used is "Hard Pulls"
Same thing on my Chase Credit Journey, it also shows two "credit checks" - their verbiage. I have actually looked at my Experian account, and indeed, the C1 card application resulted in a credit check on all three agencies. But, I don't see that each was considered a "hard pull", I seem to be one short considering I opened three cards. Perhaps Chase didn't do a hard pull as they already have my checking and savings account, plus three other cards with Chase.
Thus, it seems the three simultaneous credit checks only count as one "hard pull".
Comments?
BTW, I am about to cancel the C1 Venture before applying for the C1 VX. I'm assuming that would lower my risk, though I admit at one time I had FOUR C1 cards at one time, and perhaps it isn't the issue I am imagining.

No. Check, Inquiry and Pull are three ways of saying the same thing. When a lender requests information from your credit report the Inquiry may be Hard or Soft. Hard Pulls are most commonly made when you apply for credit, appear on your credit report, and are visible to others. Soft Pulls are performed routinely by your existing lenders, and are visible only to you and the lender that made them. If Capital One pulls reports from all three bureaus that would be three Hard Pulls, but only one per report.

Good info, Mia. Now, the next question: would it help or harm my application for VX if I cancel the standard Venture first? I don't use it, and it isn't doing me much good at this point, since my CSP has consistently worked out well for all kinds of spending when used with my CFU. Thus I don't want to pay another's years AF, and will cancel it when I can.

I wouldnt cancel it, I would convert it to a savior card. No annual fee, and maintains your history with C1.
