The question is simple, but the answer would be complicated because data from the tax return is only part of the decision formula. It sounds as if you are expecting personal service from mass market companies. You will be repeatedly disappointed because the employees that we can question would not have that type of information.

WRONG. If the original application was denied nobody could identify why. The tax return is only extra documents requested.only to reconsider.......My simple question since I'm dealing with the head manger in the lending department who had my application and information in front of him......when I simply asked what value do I need unfortunately he was unsure of and gave no feedback just send it in.

Don't understand why several are defending the complexity of the decision to deny if bank can't understand their computer then it's poorly managed institution.
CHATGPT could have answered better!
.
Simple---- of the generic issues on the letter was it one of these or all.......no understanding on what criteria the computer rejected it. I would have been reconsidered IF my documents were sent in but then the bank employees merely route to a manager and he makes gut decision not a specific valuation on a tax return. Since I don't trust BoA.....I just dropped it. Only rejection in my life on any credit application.

I knew even though I had no history with BoA...struggle they were making was not worth my time to gather all of my documents when ZERO institutions have ever asked for this ever in my lifetime!

FICO is owned by Fair Isaac, the banks or credit bureaus do not know the details of the score calculation. FICO is predictive, not prescriptive. FICO measures risk, it does not tell us how we should use credit. It would be counterproductive for a bank to tell customers how to manipulate their credit files to appear to represent a lower risk of default.
Fundamental guidelines is all Fair Issac discloses not details. I have watched my credit score for that last 2 years comparing daily score on Chase Credit Journey and Capital One Credit Wise(delayed by one week).
NO consistency when a CC inquiry drops 3 points or 5 then 1 poin next day on Chase/Experian t on consecutive days. No consistency when it gets updated which can be over 1 year not 2-3 months some try to advise. I also see when the inquiry is recovering not all points are credited back. Goes on and on. I also see where low card utilization at 1% jumps to 3 % during a charge period.....score drops immediately NOT waiting for payment due date to come. Yes, I know the workaround to dysfunctional credit scoring model...pay in advance of ...well ahead of due date but yoru being penalized by Fair Issa FICO and Vantage following your contractual agreement to pay of CC due date to the bank at alter date when credit score is changed due to charge in that period a few days after transaction

3% card utilization is extremely low and was only temporary during a monthly period is NOTHING to worry about since payment not due but Fair Issac FICO dropped my score 5 points
Immediately I paid before due date.....all of my credit cards in advance....reset card utilization to 0%....next billing cycle my score recovered since 0 balance on all accounts was sent to all credit bureaus and my score rebounds +5 points. More you understand the details tracking your data daily the more you understand how FICO functions the more you'll understand absurdity how it works inconsistently. Still fuming about losing 15 points since my 2 completed montage accounts stopped reporting same day dropping off my credit report after 10 years. of closing loans.

Wonder if this card will become more popular now that the IAD lounge has opened? OTOH maybe the crowds and waitlists will annoy the high-AF customers.

Just applied for the Venture X (used the 90k Miles for $4k in spend link in one of the threads hdere) and was instantly approved for $30k limit (I did NOT answer the optional question about carrying balances).

I have a $5k home-related purchase coming up next month so the spend will be organic.

FICO is 850 (yes, seriously),....13 open (personal) CC accounts....no Hard Pulls in last 24 months....no new personal CCs open in the last two years (but 4 AMEX Biz Cards with their NLL offers haha)....almost $300k in available credit......current CC balances of $10k ( from last month's Hawaii trip and other purchases).....Income around $250k....

I have zero interest in keeping or even using this card, but I transfer at least 400,000 miles per year to SQ to pay for our annual Bali flight in J and I couldn't pass this up as it is a net cost of $95 for what will be 100,000 Miles.

Incredible value here.

Do they overnight these cards upon approval?

Approved Thursday....got an email Friday that they are "overnighting" my card via FedEx and provided a tracking number but it won't be delivered until Monday.

Have Capital One Venture X($30k CL) and Quicksilver( original Venture Card ---$20k CL).
Traveled to LA and purchased an Apple laptop $2000 using Venture X and FRAUD blocked since I made an unusual(for me ) high daily charge is a new region. Had to call C1 FRAUD and answer 5 questions to approve the charge took over 1 hour being switched around.

Traveled to Las Vageas....40 miles outside of Vegas stopped for gas $26.50(10 years ago). original Venture C1 ......immediately got $42.00 pre-authorization charge on my card which confused me.
Had to spend 30 minutes on phone while C1 confirmed that wa sonly a "pending" change that teh merchant can set and pre-auth amount it wants and this was a trucker gas station where $300 of diesel load can be the norm I guess.

Traveling to Europe for past 1.5 years zero problems with Venture X. Hard for me to say if C1 Fraud detection allows universal traveling upto a CL, I doubt it. Clearly there is some limit relative to your CL and spending habit.

SO I think it's scrap shoot that C1 advises you don't need to tell them you're traveling but every once in a while the computer fraud detection might take into account amount, location change and block.

I've noticed only a few cases across card issuers in the last 10 years where the issuer has blocked a legitimate charge, especially with EMV and contactless transactions being common now.

I've not had any charges blocked on the Venture X specifically (with it being my primary non-category spending card internationally), nor did I have any issues with the Capital One Platinum card I had 15 years ago. (That was a simple 1% cash back card, but I used it internationally at a time when Capital One was the only major credit card issuer to have a 0% FTF.) I don't remember placing a travel notification on any card within the last 10 years or so.

Definitely "the chip" helps veriify the actual card is being used and purchases by the holder should be approved until customer notifies C1
C1 has confirmed no guarantee at any limit a charge is approved upto credit limit.

My experience is much like your's with new chip technology no problems to date with Venture X.
My Chase business cards I've paid over internet $7000.00 an easily approved.

SO I don't know if it's custom history that avoids fraud involvement or amount or what.
Seems a $2500 charge would be easily approved using Venture X by C1 as it takes adecent credit standing to get this card.

Hi all, does adding an authorized user hit credit bureaus? when adding my wife onto Venture X, on the last step it says something about reporting to credit score (can't remember exact message, closed the window already). seems odd for just an authorized user?

Capital One publishes their policy. Look at any paper or PDF statement:

How can I Avoid Membership Fees?
If a Renewal Notice is printed on this statement, you may avoid paying an annual membership Fee by contacting Customer Service fewer than 40 days after the annual membership Fee was assessed to request that we close your account. To avoid paying a monthly membership Fee, close your account and we will stop assessing your monthly membership Fee.

I need a new general-spend card for uncategorized (non-bonused) spend. After looking around at various options, I'm starting to think the C1 Venture X card may be the best option. My logic being that it's effectively 2 FF miles per dollar, which are worth 3-4 cents total to me, and this beats any cashback or homegrown points redemption offer I'm aware of. C1 has multiple airline partners that would work well for me.

Add to the fact that the AF looks reasonably neutral or maybe even a little in my favor with the 10k annual bonus and travel credit.

Hertz PC, primary CDW, adding Priority Pass for authorized users, and the multipliers for flights and rental cars are also nice adds.

I just watched the Asksebby video about why people get declined. My FICO is high 700's, I have 30 years of credit history, I have quite a few open accounts, and low utilization on those accounts. Household income shouldn't be a problem for this card. I have not opened new CC accounts in quite a few years - I'm just looking at shaking things up now. Already carry 3 Chase, 2 Amex, and 2 Citi...in the process of shutting down a couple of oddball accounts (like a Barclays one that got converted from the US Airways days). When I get done with a card my usual MO is to just downgrade it to a no-fee card and toss it in a drawer, as long as it's an issuer I have some other relationship with.

I've never held a C1 account. Thoughts on my assessment (that this is indeed a good general spend card thanks to the 2x on everything) and any challenges I might have with getting approved?
