Does anyone know if AAdvantage miles/points can be earned on CP-operated flights (i.e. CP metal) that are "wet-leased" to AC? As a specific example, YEG-ORD AC 74 (CP 3074) is operated on CP metal, but is listed in the CP timetables as "Operated by Canadian Airlines for Air Canada".

Can any of the AC/CP employee lurkers provide a semi-official answer?

Oh yeah, what happens in the event of a pilot strike? This flight would still be a go, because it would be CP metal and CP pilots even though it's billed as an AC flight, right? Or is it even more complicated than this?

If you are booked on CP, regardless of who operates the flight, don't you get AA miles?

If not, you may be out of luck, because technically, CP3074 is a codeshare, despite the fact that CP actually operates it. (South Park fans will understand when I say, "Dude, this is seriously #&?@'d up")

However, in the event of a strike, it still operates, because the crew (wet leased, as they are) are not in a legal position to take job action.

On a related subject regarding CP wet-leased to AC, I think one of these would not be eligible for last year's upgrade stickers, even if I booked on the CP3000 flight?

My understanding is that, despite the CP metal and CP crew, if it is a wet lease to AC, AA is not recognised as a code-share.

Frustrating I know. The code-share is only with CP designated flights shared by AC. AC has no legal responsibility to honour the AA agreement despite the metal when they are listed solely as the operating company.

As far as the status of a wet leased aircraft in the event of a pilot strike (which I personally do not believe will happen) I have no idea what the ramifications are. Has there ever been a precedent set for this type of situation?

cslusarc: I think most of the AC wet-leases of CP metal are occuring on the transborder routes (ones CP operates). YYC-ORD is another one.

It seems to be an interesting way for AC to "add" to its route network without actually having to operate more routes itself.

Also the evening flights SFO<>YYC, these used to be AC761 and AC762. The morning flights are UA.
