I am starting some majors repairs to my house and, I am asking me if its possible to pay with credit card at the post office to make post draft. (and pay my supplier with it) this would be a great way to grab AE points .
anybody have experience with it ? |

Money orders are not the same as postage stamps and similar mailing services. Since drafts represent an actual cash amount, the merchant (i.e. drug store outlet or Canada Post) must absorb the cc service charges at one end and Canada Post itself at the other end providing the item/service purchased. With a spread of between 3% and 5% I would have problems seeing a Crown agency foregoing such revenue when a money order (i.e. cash) is at play unless there is a service charge for issuing a money order, that cc cost may be covered on a sliding scale of fee.

Of course there is a fee! It's $5 (last I checked) plus any currency exchange, plus they will only sell to a maximum amount (often $1000) so you have to buy multiples if your bill will be over that.
Is there anything that doesn't come with fees these days? |

Is there anything that doesn't come with fees these days? BTW for the Mod who moved this thread, had the OP titled it "Earning AE miles by buying Post Office money orders" would that not make it a legitimate AE forum thread? |
Very interesting. So, if I buy $15K in Canada Post drafts, that would cost me (15 x $5) $75. Assuming I can deposit these drafts into my bank account, this seems to be a much better deal than signing up for CC's.

Canada Post will not accept credit cards for money-orders. They will only accept cash or debit.
