Trying the $20 trick at a Westin in Canada?

Curious if anyone has ever tried the $20 trick in either the Westin Grand or the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver and if they had any luck?

What do starwood chains feel about this trick? Are clerks allowed to accept it?

My guess is they would say "sir, you gave me a 20 dollar bill by accident" and give it back.

I think the $20 trick is mostly a vegas (possibly Macau) one. I'd expect the best response you'd get in Vancouver would be the "you dropped a $20" line that CanuckFlyHigh mentioned.

Yes, I think they will think you are from Mars :D Just not done. You can ask if you can pay for an upgrade - that may result in one being offered or potentially even comped on a slow day.

They'd think you're a coroporate spy trying to test if they take bribes. So to be on the safe side, they will say "I see this money - what are you trying to pay for?" and then give you the worst room in the hotel.
