Arab Emirates?

Never heard it called that. What's next? Jewish El Al?

And is there really an AP connection here? Thought not!

EK website is not yet updated. It is still showing 777-300ER on the YYZ/DXB in June 2009. However, the YYZ/DXB/HKG flexible business class fare is very attractive at C$8,962.73 all-in. Presumably EK will honour the booking if the equipment is "up-gauged" to an A380. DXB/HKG is showing an A330-200.

To add

Report: Emirates unhappy with A380 performance

Emirates Airline, the largest buyer of the Airbus A380 superjumbo, has detailed 46 pages of complaints with its initial aircraft, according to a German news magazine Der Spiegel. Emirates has 58 of the huge jets on order but has experienced technical and reliability issues on the four aircraft already in its fleet. Der Spiegel said the two companies held a “crisis meeting” to discuss Emirates’ concerns, though the airline says it has a “good relationship” with Airbus and the meeting was “routine.”

No AP connection at all, just thought that anyone who might be into plane spotting might like to know.

I've seen it in LHR,SYD and HKG and it is not a good looking airplane. Shorter than 777-300.

YYZ has gates that are A380-ready at the new Terminal 1 (where EK operate from), and there is also one that is A380-ready at T3....also, runways and some taxiways were recently upgraded, so that overall, YYZ is A380-ready....

Great news for YYZ and good for EK! Gotta keep an eye out for this beast from June 1 onwards......

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I am not sure why "it is not a good looking airplane" because it's shorter than a 777-300. I have seen it in YVR (on its world tour) and SYD (first SQ arrival), and left from SYD on AC at the gate next to the SQ 380. It does appear short and stubby, but it is a phenomenal aircraft and as an observer, very quiet. I gather those that have flown it also remark on how quiet it is to fly in. Its arrival in YYZ will generate significant publicity (as is already happening on this yet to be moved FT thread).
