Most likely buses. BTW, most of the "Amtrak" runs Seattle-Vancouver are actually buses on I-5; only two per day are trains.

According to this information (http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/Conten...=1178294255766) there are no trains between YVR and SEA anyway, right?

As long as streets are okay for buses to pass everything is fine....

How much is your train fare? If it's going to be bus and it costs CAD 50 or more, I'd just as soon take the Quick Shuttle bus so you don't have to worry about getting between King Street and SEA.

Ive paid 31 USD for the train. And if I understand, I can use a bus which is departing the same time the train would leave Vancouver station, right?

Check-in and border control fpr the bus ride as well in Vancouver?

That's quite a bit cheaper so it's not too bad even if you have to take a taxi to SEA. The Quick Shuttle is CAD 52.50 or USD 44 at current exchange rates.

Not sure if the Amtrak bus clears at VAC or at the truck crossing at the border (where you have to disembark and take your bags and all possessions through immigration and customs before reboarding). Anything left on the bus is trashed.

It clears at the border, none too ceremoniously, since it also makes a few southbound stops in Richmond, etc. It's pretty easy to take the 174/194 buses to Sea-Tac airport: once you arrive at King Street Station, go upstairs, turn right, and walk two blocks to the International District bus-tunnel station. The 174/194 board there.

Reading about the I-5 and I-90 blockages makes me grateful that my city has more than a few ways out!

By next December, there will be in Vancouver. Your Amtrak train will arrive in Vancouver and you'll be able to transfer to Skytrain out to the airport.

The only hassle will be the approximate one block walk (through a park) from the train station to the skytrain station.

And also in Seattle, you'll be able to connect to the light rail to the airport by next winter (short walk from the Amtrak station).

I am at home again, thank you very much for your information and help.

The train was on time and I was wondering about the system of train-travel, but thats the way it is in USA I think.

One car only for passangers! One car and one restaurant-car and one for the luggage!

Check - In 1:30 befor departure - in Germany I use this time to travel about 180 km on the train......

But all in all it was very nice!

Glad you had a good trip.

And yes that's how it is in the USA, and Canada too.

North America has a long way to go before we get rail travel even close to the European model.
