Thanks for the articles.

They just confirmed my earlier thoughts that the whole thing is a scam. I have applied for some tickets in the first round in Canada and I was unsuccessful. The whole process was very secretive.

Secretive? Yes. A scam? Not so sure.

I have gone through this process for two other olympics. It is very similar and it requires patience and time. I got 3 of 8 event tickets last fall that I was looking for. Today I got the other 5 plus another one I wasn't initially interested in. So now I have event tickets for 9 events at a total cost of US$579 including shipping and fees.

I have lodging reserved at a cost of US$890 for 12 nights, in two different hostels (seven nights in a multi-bed room in Whistler, five nights in a private two-bed room in Vancouver), paid $10 for my frequent flyer ticket to Vancouver and returning from Seattle (lowest award level). I figure with transportation and food costs, my entire cost for 12 nights at the olympics will be $1,900.

Yes it takes patience. I booked the lodging in October 2007 when it first became available (steep cancellation fees), even though I had no event tickets confirmed. I booked the flights 11+ months in advance. And I have been patient in waiting for the event tickets.

Not much different than Torino or Beijing, at least in my experience.

If the sale is "on the 2010 Winter Games website" as the article says, it will only be for Canadian residents. US residents need to go through www.cosport.com.

But it shows that there are still tickets for sale.

I waited for about 5 hrs using 2 computers. After getting in, all the high demand sessions were sold out.
