Lodging for 2010 olympics
For anyone interested, the 4 hostels in Vancouver and Whistler began taking reservations today for the olympic time frame. They have pretty strict penalties. The details are listed here:

* The person who made the reservation must be a member of the party for which the reservation was made. He/she must also be physically present at time of check-in. * Members cancelling their reservation prior to December 31, 2009 are entitled to a 50% refund. * No refunds will be issued for cancellations occurring after December 31, 2009. Tickets for the games go on sale on October 3, 2008. |
Ideally, it might be best to get tickets before the lodging reservation but even though the ticket sales begin on Oct 3, you won't know until later this year or early next year exactly which events you got tickets for.
In my case, I felt it was best to secure the lodging now and work on the tickets later this month. The events I am most interested in seeing are not ones that will sell out quickly. And based on past experience, event tickets are often available even during the games. Lodging is generally much more at a premium than event tickets. John |
