Another great Asian place is Tropika, fusion of Singapore, Malaysian and Thai. They have a branch on Robson. Very well regarded in the asian community.
The emigres from Malaysia seem to like Kedah House but its location at SE Marine Drive and Argyle isn't handy for most visitors. Another Malaysian (as in halal) restaurant has taken over Kedah House's old location on Fraser at 41st (and 42nd). Location isn't much better for the visitor. For Indian food, I highly recommend Maurya on West Broadway at Fir (or is it Hemlock? Still haven't figured it out after 29 years in Vancouver). 1 1/2 blocks west of Granville at any rate. |
For Tropika, the only sketchy branch I've tried is on Cambie. The downtown one is decent. The Aberdeen branch is the best, by far.
For Kedah house, are you sure it isn't the all-you-can-eat crowd that you're talking to? |

Make sure to take a walk down Robson Street.

I've only tried the (original?) West Broadway location which has been gone for 4 or more years now.
