I heard those rumours for the Friendly Thai's spot too - instead got a crappy chain. I'd hate to see the beach-ification of L'ville. Crappy food, too many SUVs and over-aggressive drivers.

New Stratenger's web site is released!
I like the picture slide show, captures the area well.
I wonder if PB's pic is on there.
Someone could start a Strats Facebook group.
(I have a suggestion for a slogan: At Stratengers you are never a Stranger.)
http://www.stratengers.com/
Welcome to Stratengers
Stratengers featuring cuisine from Italy, Texas and India is an exciting new addition to the Queen St. East strip. All ingredients are fresh from the market and the sauces, breads and desserts are prepared in the finest Italian tradition right on the premises.
The atmosphere is casual and inviting, with jazz and Italian music softly serenading you in the background. Prices are very welcoming as well.
Brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday. A tantalizing selection of egg dishes are offered including "Eggs Baldini" and omelette's with ingredients like brie, artichoke, sun-dried tomato, bocconcini, goat cheese and spinach. Juices are fresh squeezed and jams are made from scratch in the restaurant. Be sure to try the homemade pumpernickel bread!

A Rowe Farms store is opening beside the Sbux @ Queen E/Logan.
The gentrification of Leslieville marches on....

I'll stick with my irradiated/antibiotic/force-fed/bovine growth hormone-filled meat from the good ol' supermarket.

I'd say it's more twittish to want to put a power plant on lake frontage in the middle of a dense urban area. By all means it should be in some cow's backyards, not in the centre of a neighbourhood. You must not live in Leslieville - it's a walking area not a driving area. Leave the walmarts for the NOB (north of Bloor) crowd and keep them out of areas where the average IQ has been deadened by plumes of SUV exhaust.
Hey we used to have a garbage incinerator.... so this is a big step up.
Its good to have power plants close to the lake to use the water for cooling... also we get FRESH power thats not travelled very far!
Now to get the idiots to make Dundas 4 lanes again rather than the stupid bike lanes.

OOPS back again..... If we want to use power we should be willing to have a power plant.

At Rowe Farms' new outpost on Queen St. E., customers won't have to look far when they want to know the provenance of their meat. The countertop where you pay is a Plexiglas map of southwestern Ontario that lists the 12 names of the farmers who supply the store and pinpoints their locations

Live in cool heritage 'hood and leisurely cycle to work
Potential buyers impressed by area renovations

When Lori Feasson and her husband, Henri, went looking for a home some 20 years ago, Leslieville seemed like the perfect spot.
OK, so it was a bit "frightening and downtrodden" but it was downtown and close to one of the couple's favourite spots, the Beach. Most of all, Ms. Feasson recalls, it was affordable. So they took a chance, quickly packing up their apartment at Yonge and Bloor and venturing to a small semi on Coady Avenue.

So does that mean that there is a constant parade of SUV's on Queen E.through Leslieville on their way to the Beach?
