I should probably update since I started this thread.

I had a great time on the quick trip. Upgrades both ways (NW) cleared five days ahead, all flights on time. I ended up using priceline for hotels. Got the Crowne Plaza in downtown SEA for $60+, and the Marriot Pinnacle in downtown YVR for $80+. :) Parking added $20-$25 onto both of those. :(

I did take the scenic route via the Mulkiteo ferry, but missed the Chukanut drive turn. I also hit Boundry Bay for a quick lunch.

It was a long walk from the Marriot to the rink, and I was surprised by the lack of bars to stop in to have a drink on the way, at least that were not overly packed. I did end up an an Irish type place a couple blocks from the arena on Robson.

Wings played like crap and lost, but still had a good time. The micro brew beers were good, but a little small for $8.

On the way back south I managed to take around $200 from the local tribes at the craps table. Also found the Red Hook brewery on the way to the airport.

Thanks again for the help. Now it is off to Toronto for a Tigers / Blue Jays game. New thread to follow.

Part of the reason is that your probable path is pretty much commercial office land and there isn't a lot of demand for after-hours stuff in that area. There are residential developments now but food and drink service hasn't really developed there (it has mainly in Yaletown in the SE corner of downtown, and is there in the old Westend). The Eastend/Chinatown (NE corner) actually is getting a lot of things as the place becomes increasingly gentrified.

Welcome to puritanical Vancouver :)

There are very few 'pubs' in the City - Add to the mix a game night, and it's virtually impossible to find somewhere to sit and have a drink.

Just as a follow up to my trip:

Vancouver is a pretty cool city to visit :) The best way to describe it is that it's a more Ned Flanders (not in the religious sense, but the personality sense) than the US. I did enjoy that everything just seemed less stressed and much nicer than out there!

The game was great. The atmosphere of watching a game at GM Place is amazing compared to anything I've seen here in the states. Of course it helps that there were an abundant number of Flames fans there so it definitely added to it. Transportation options are abundant. The mass transit system there is great and I could have easily parked at a SkyTrain stop and taken that in. I opted to park in the Central Library lot, about 4-5 blocks away. It was $15 and was really easy to get out of since foot traffic exiting was light there. I ended up staying near the airport but at a cheap price thanks to a certain code that was posted in the MR forum :)

And you guys were right about long lines through customs Monday morning, although I don't think the customs checks opened until 4.30a. But it was a pretty good line. w/o check in luggage I got into the terminal around 4.30a and made it to the gate around 5.20a for my 6a flight. It did help that I took a customs form prior and filled it out in advance. One less thing to take care of. No problems with the easyChickens either.

Thanks again for everyone for their advice. It helped out a ton in making for a wonderful, memorable spring break! ^:D
