Question about connection time in YYZ

Hello guys

I got in on the BUH/OTP deal and will be going to Europe thru YYZ. I will need to book a separate ticket from FLL-YYZ aside from my YYZ-BUH-YYZ tix.

I'm looking at the flight availability online and found one that will get me to YYZ by 3 PM.

My YYZ-AMS flight departs at 5:50 PM.

Since this is a separate itin, I believe I have to go claim my luggage and bring them to Ticketing Agent to be rechecked for the flight to AMS.

Do you think I'm safe and have enough time to do this? And do you think I can ask the TA in FLL to go ahead and check through my luggage all the way to AMS, even though they're two separate itinerary?

Thanks in advance ^

I started to answer this and then realized I couldn't. Theres the question of clearing Cdn customs maybe and the possible terminal transfers (maybe twice).

I think you need to ask the question on the reg Aeroplan forum and state the Airlines you're using.

Well .. thank you for trying :)

I called NW CSR and was told that I should be able to have my luggage tagged all the way to AMS. I will have to claim the luggage in YYZ for custom but I can then drop it off at the belt for the continuing flight. I can do this even though they're two separate tickets.

However, when I talked to a different CSR, she said it's up to the ticketing agent in FLL whether they're going to check-thru my luggage or not.

I was going to buy the ticket and take the chance anyway.

However, while browsing the web, I found out that Niagara Falls is only 1 1/2 hours drive from Toronto. With that said, I'll fly into YYZ two days earlier so I can have a pre-vacation in Toronto and not worry about the misconnection ^
