Help in Toronto...
 

I'm planning a trip to Toronto in November, and possibly moving there next year. I'm wondering if any fellow FT'ers can advise on:

- Best websites to look for rental properties in the toronto area and good suburbs to live in (i'm planning to find a townhouse or terrace, ideally with a backyard, relatively close to the city - what rents should I expect?)
- Best website to look for current jobs available? I've had a look at hotjobs.ca... is this the best on there is??

Rental rates vary according to how close you are to the downtown core and how nice of a neighborhood you're in, there are plenty of really nice suburbs where you can find a townhouse or condo for a reasonable rate, perhaps you should start at least $1,000-1,500 CDN per month and up depending on how nice a place you want to rent. You may want to check the communities west (Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Milton) or east (Ajax, Whitby, Pickering, Oshawa) or north (Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Aurora, Newmarket) all of which have decent public transportation to downtown Toronto.

With regards to jobs, I've never had to find a job through any classified service, as I'm self employed and quite well connected in my field, so I can't help you there, but unless you're in the top 5% in your field of expertise, I'd not spend too much time in newspaper classifieds. Maybe you can find something through the online service you mentioned or www.monster.ca I assume you can legally work in Canada, right? ;)
