Security at YYZ

How come a small airport like YHZ can have upto date security equipment where you don’t have to take anything out of your bags while YYZ is still the old fashioned way? The security was rude too.

That wasn't my experience. Just went throuth YYZ security yesterday on my way to LHR. Didn't have to take anything out of my bags and the security staff was neither rude nor overly effusive. They just seemed like they were getting on with their jobs to me.
Guess it's another example of YMMV.

Basically everyone had to take the laptops out of the bag. In YHZ I noticed they had installed new machines more like a MRI scanner while YYZ had the old machines. In YHZ they made sure everything was kept in the bags and they kept telling everyone laptops stay in the bag while in YYZ they kept telling everybody laptops have to come out.

The inconsistency drives me nuts.

Yes and YYZ is supposed to be the biggest in Canada. They are also the same authority too. Why can’t they have uniformity?
