overnight at YYZ
Hi all,
I searched the web and this forum but could not find a straight answer. Will be arriving at YYZ at 11pm from international and connecting early the next morning on a domestic flight. Can I just stay airside overnight? No checked bags if that matters. Thanks. R&F |
You will have to go through customs and immigration so you can't stay airside. If transit or regular security still open you might be able to go through and might not be kicked out later by security. A reddit user says, "terminal one, if you go all the way to the left (when entering it from outside), or essentially as far East as you can go on the check-in level, there are long lounge chairs which are setup there and people sleep on them pretty often. That’s where I went even though my morning flight was leaving from terminal 3."

The only full airside transit is domestic-to-domestic. |

IIRC, all International arrivals clear CBSA at the first port of entry YYZ, and then you are in the terminal landside. You need to clear CATSA to get airside. The only exception is the transit-to-the-US bypass, where you undergo a document check by CBSA and are sent to US pre-clearance.

You will not be kicked out. There is an area in T1 equipped with sleeper loungers. I wrote about this on the WEB site Sleeping in Airports - which I recommend: https://www.sleepinginairports.net/r...rt-reviews.htm

Why not just grab one of many cheap hotels near the airport? It soul certainly be a lot more comfortable.

I've never slept in the terminal at YYZ but I did sleep in the terminal at ORD a few years back courtesy of a weather delay. They kept playing the announcements all night ... which not only kept me up, but drove me to the edge of madness. "All bags look alike. be sure you have your own bag" ... "If you see something suspicious ..." ... and of course, ""The white zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only. There is no stopping in a red zone."
