Nope, not about the interior experience.

Yes, this!

True enough. Other than observing the different cabin interior design (I have flown 737s with open overhead storage and the breadbox oxygen mask, ventilation and reading light housings), it's all the same unless you have some degree of luxury seating (probably only in the 737s operated by Privatair for KL among others).

The only other attraction of flying an early 737 is using the self-stowing stairs that these a/c could be equipped with if you get to a hardstand airport (sort of like using the tail cone stair of a 727 or DC-9, not sure if the M80s every came with these).

I'm one of those who has flown on too many 737-200s (including the only WS -200C, in all-pax configuration), too many -300s and -400s (handful of -500s on LH and CO), and a smaller amount of -700s, -800s and -900s (as well as the sole -600). Only one Max flight so far and that's on a MH 7M8. Hard to tell them apart other than the cabin interior.

I guess I'm not as much a hardcore AvGeek as others... some out there even have logbooks signed by pilots! LOL

A long, long time ago (same era as when the 737s were brand spankin' new), some airlines (QF for one IIRC) used to give out log books to kids for this precise purpose.

As for hardcore, yeah there are some who want to fly every sub-variant and even those with different engines. What I've flown is coincidence as there are a lot of a/c that I could have gone only a little out of the way to fly but didn't (such as 342s and 345s). I used to have this memory where I remembered what I flew on (at least the generic model) and on which airline on which route (but not necessarily the stops).

Which reminds me, there was this thread 2 decades ago about coming up with a schedule to fly only 737s around the world. That was facilitated by FJ flying a 737NG NAN-HNL-YVR which was the only way to get across most of the Pacific on one. I think the Atlantic was actually a challenge back then (WS wasn't flying TATL back then). IIRC the solution was to fly on a Private BBJ operated on behalf of KL.

Not sure about a RTW trip on the 737... that would be pretty intense!

The only 737 I can tolerate for long trips is the SQ 737Max-8 in business class!:p
