Amount of Baggage via Rainbow Bridge
Hi All,
Planning to cross land border from USA to Canada via Rainbow bridge by foot. Is it possible to pull through 2 check-in size baggages via the Entry/Exit points? Any challenges expected? |

Posts on Reddit say it is possible, but you would have to be able to lift your suitcases over the entry turnstile. You would also need to pay the $1.00 USD or CAD fee by inserting four quarters (25-cent coins) into the turnstile. But I have no personal experience with this. Another option is to take the once daily Amtrak train for the five-minute ride across the Whirlpool Rapids Bridge. |
Here's a short YouTube video showing the turnstile set-up, and the available change machines for converting U.S. or Canadian paper money into quarters:

Thank you for your replies. It is not a problem for me to carry the baggage over the turnstile and keep on the other side. I am able to lift them. When coming from USA into Canada, I hope the type of turnstile on both sides is similar to this type and not the whole body type. That would be challenging. The type in which you walk through by rotating it with your hands/legs is less of a hassle.

I believe that the video shows the turnstiles when arriving on the Canadian side of the bridge. There is no toll (for vehicles or pedestrians) when crossing from Canada to the U.S., so I don't think that there will be any turnstiles in that direction.
Guess need to take my chances to get the luggages to rotate into the turnstile first before me :-) |

Looked through some Youtube videos. There indeed seems to be a whole body-type turnstile when exiting US to enter Canada via Rainbow Bridge. Unable to share the link to this video here. Search term- "a2dV_bIQJf8"
