AC34 from SYD seems to be almost at the gate after 5 hrs. on the tarmac. It is the most tracked flight in the world right now. There have been regular takeoffs and landings for the last 45 min. or so. There is still a long line for deicing and an equally long line of international flights waiting for gates, but at least things are moving finally.

I am flying into YVR from YUL on 22nd. Really hoping that the backlog of flights will be cleaned up somehow by then and my flight won’t get cancelled.

Maybe YVR is at capacity now? Lots of arrival planes still not making to the gates yet.
AC34 at the gate after 5 hours but AC8 still occupying the runway.

PR just came into the mix and parked near the cargo village.

WG from CUN also diverting to YYC.

My helijet flight to Victoria was cancelled so I'm going to go try out YVR again.

Yeah, I saw that on FR24 but wasn't sure it was accurate. If so, it looks like they are using 08L / 26R as a penalty box.

I guess we will see what happens when they release the ground hold for arrivals at 16:00. Assuming that's still the plan.

Told to try standby.
Further complicated by the fact that they are in Kingston, so may see revolving hotel bookings in my future too.
Boy 3 had been booked Friday from YVR long ago......getting nervous.

You may need to think creatively, but there seems to be a cheap option above.

Granted, it is F8, so there are chances they will mess up, but it appears to be the most reasonable option for your boys now. May need a positioning flight from YYZ/YTZ to YQG though.

Note: the link suggests a third party booking two separate tickets together, but you can also book individually with F8 directly, which may be preferable.

I am looking at the YYZ-YVR and YUL-YVR flights for the next few days. All flights today except one are cancelled, and that one flight is delayed till 3am which may get cancelled anyway. All flights on Dec 21 and Dec 22 are shown as J0 Y0. I am wondering if/when AC will schedule some additional flights to YVR, or upgrade some of the A220/320, B7M8 flights.

There should be no not already airborne main terminal flights departing.

(C4202/22 NOTAMN
A) CYVR B) 2212202214 C) 2212210000
E) ACFT DESTINED FOR APN 6 AT CYVR NOT AUTH TO DEP)
(C4205/22 NOTAMR C4203/22
A) CYVR B) 2212202349 C) 2212210345
E) RWY 08L/26R CLSD.)

A JL 767 went to gate 20.
NH is at west parking. Passengers being bussed to terminal.

08L will be used for parking shortly.

Who remembers the YOW thunderstorms a few years ago?
This is a lot more flights than that event.
Doesn't appear (m)any lessons were learned.

Apparently the planes on/near 08L will have their passengers bussed to the terminal from where they are.
Eventually.
Just need to find some stairs and busses.

Website now says that there is flexible rebooking due to YVR weather (https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/...ncouver.html#/), but my flight still has the change booking button greyed out. I'm hoping I can get standby on the YKA-YYC flight tomorrow morning (instead of the cancelled YKA-YVR) then get to YYZ, but don't see any way to do it without continuing on hold. Even better would be for the plane that is coming YYC-YKA that was supposed to fly to YVR add a flight YKA-YYC to let those of us who want to to fly to YYC instead!

I've had FR on a monitor in the background just watching YVR for the past hour or so just out of curiosity. I know nothing about airport operations, I'm curious to know what is the chokepoint at this point in time to get planes off the ground? Getting planes through de-icing? The same 3 planes seem to have been sat at de-icing for some time now after the AC566 to SFO made it through and took off.

I left YEG an hour ago. Because that last flight also got nixed. I have been rescheduled. For Thursday.
If this weren't dead-of-winter-minus-42° weather I might not feel so "stuck".

I'd seriously just show up at the airport in the morning. The fact that you're not actually going to YVR should make this a lot easier for you.

I have an upcoming YVR-YYZ-LGA flight, would like to either change it to YVR-EWR direct (to avoid the storm) or at least earlier YVR-YYZ-LGA/EWR (before storm hits). Tried to change on website but keeps giving me error of no flights found. Any other options besides having to call and go on hold?

6 of the top 10 most watched flights on FR24 are YVR aircraft
CX838 has hit 6 hours on the taxiway now.
TK just arrived and has been added into the mix.
