A widebody takes 3 spots in the deice bay. 30-45 minutes to deice.
Don't know how many people drive the deice vehicles, but eventually they need to eat and use the washroom.

It means the one person who couldn't come up with an excuse fast enough is working.

It's been flurries since 1200 and started picking up around 1730 and hasn't stopped since then
And It's also chaos after you get off the plane.

Airside

Baggage Claim

And even Canada Line, the track switches at Bridgeport has failed two times in two days

You're not alone on this one.

I counted at least 7 flights tonight with arrival gate issues.
AC2087 YYZ, AC123 YYZ, AC1055 PHX, WS175 YEG, WS123 YYC, F8500 YKF, F8201 YUL

Edit - Add B61975 JFK, AC549 EWR as part of the arrival gate hell tonight.

And snow has picked up since 0015, best of luck if you're not heading to YYJ.
Isn't it worse over there?

Have been watching checking this on FR24 for the past bit. What a mess. Currently 0130 and:

- AC549 landed at 2150 and is still parked just outside of E pier 3 hours later (edit: moving towards the gate at 0154, 4 hours on the tarmac later)
- B61975 landed about 2 hours ago, sent to the de-icing area to wait it out
- AC1055 landed 2206
- F8201 landed 2343
- F8500
landed 2222
- WS124
landed 2224
- WS175
landed 2336
- WS127 landed 0021
- AC127 landed 0009
- F8209 landed 0101
- AC572 seems to be returning to gate after a 2 hour jaunt around the taxiways.

AS3371 landed from SEA at 0056 and got into their gate 20 min later. Meanwhile DL3809 from SEA arrived at 0002 and is still waiting for a gate.

WS131 turned around back to YYC about 20 minutes after takeoff. Clearly a better option at this point.

Feel for anyone stuck on those planes. Sit through a flight and then... this.

WS1863 from HNL flew over YVR about half an hour ago and is headed to YYC. Apart from that and the cargo flights, SQ and AM due in about 3 hours, by which time things may get start to get cleared up.

Can't even figure out what's happening with departing flights. QF76 left the de-icing area possibly without getting deiced and is back near C pier, as is BA84.

Current look at things:

I guess I did made a bad foreshadow from this morning but clearly this is a hell of a night
Still its really just 10cm/4 inches of the drier fluffier kinda of snow too and not the usual Pacific Northwest slush.

Speedbird84, you're keeping better records than me, but you can add 4 more flight as "Ground Return to Gate"

AC222/YYC
AC248/YEG
NZ23/AKL
QF76/SYD

Even for those that get off the plane and with their bags, it's gonna be hard to get off Sea Island tonight.
The snow hasn't slowed down since 1900 and has picked up since 0015.
Visibility has also been under 1 miles/1.6km since 1900 to now as well.

Same here, I'm curious how bad will it be in the morning?
Still, it was way too late for airfield operations to call for a groundstop at 0130.

EDIT - WS1863 HNL-YVR diverted to YYC

Nitehawk, you safe and sound?

They released us from AC123 after 2hrs 50mins. I made the mistake of taking the skytrain, which only got us as far as Bridgeport then the skytrain was closed, leaving at least 100 people to try to find cabs and Ubers. I'm still in the cab now trying to get to my friend's place near Commercial and Broadway.

I was definitely glad to be in J while we're waiting almost an extra 3 hours. Not everyone was so lucky.

After seeing FJ in an attached photo above, looked into their flight. Not sure if they attempted to depart today but they've delayed departure to Tuesday evening.

AM appears to be the first flight to depart in a number of hours.

Also has the arrivals halt been lifted already? Cargojet is currently on finals.

AC127 finally made it to the gate and 129 is waiting near C-pier which might indicate it has a gate coming up.

And the F8 YKF flight seems to have gotten a tug to head back on the taxiway and has stopped near the C-pier as well.

Edit: to add, BA returned to its departure gate but QF still seems to be stuck on the tarmac. PR pushed back a while ago but has not moved from that point.
