Any reports on YUL international arrivals experience post August 9 relaxation of restrictions for Americans? Thanks.
Arrived YUL yesterday (11 Aug) at 17:10 on TK from IST. The KLM flight from AMS landed prior. Was first off the flight and the line for customs already extended past the first moving sidewalk on the 2nd floor, before turning the corner to go down the escalators to the main customs hall. It took approx 45 minutes to get to the escalators and down to the main hall. At that point, I was (fortunately) able to immediately hop over to the NEXUS terminals. Only half of the terminals were operating, but no one was waiting in line. The remaining (non NEXUS) customs hall was jammed.
Zero line to exit the baggage area. I was not "randomly" chosen for the arrival test. No guidance or documents provided by anyone (CBSA or otherwise) regarding any need to quarantine or not.
If took me ~50 minutes from gate to exit. If I had to guess, the people without NEXUS at the back of my TK flight probably took closer to 2 hours (or more) to clear.
Note: Service agents were going up and down the lines on the 2nd floor directing people with connections to the connections corridor (no lines visible from upstairs). Some families with young children were also escorted ahead of the line.
Do you think you could have skipped the big line because you have NEXUS? Or is there no way around.
Not likely without queue jumping (or the appearance of it) as there was a 'gate keeper' at the top of the stairs/escalators regulating how many could go down to the main hall.
Once you get downstairs, there was no issue heading immediately to NEXUS on the right hand side.
