Doesn't the eTA achieve the same thing in giving advanced notice of most travellers?

Americans and Canadians do not complete eTA. But everyone must complete ArriveCAN.

They typically do at the departing airport just to ensure you've got it completed. They never do at the arriving airport since it is tied to your passport—when you arrive, the agent can see that information as soon as s/he swipes your passport.

It comes up automatically for CBSA or you would have definitely been fined. Some airlines check. Others don’t.

Good to know. First time using NEXUS transborder post-covid and was linked to it. No line whatsoever, through in like 30 seconds lol...

With only a few days until the mandatory arrival testing is due to be brought back, I guess the science hasn’t changed enough for them to not bring it back?

Extended until mid-July. Testing will be off-site meaning people will get take home tests or they will be able to go to select locations if they prefer to do it in person. Don't expect anything else to change until the end of September. And by then cases will be rising because of Fall so any further relaxation of rules is unlikely.

Interesting. So if selected, you can go to one of the off-site locations and just pick up a kit? They won't do the test there and then?

I think most people are assuming it will be something like we've seen at land borders—they hand you a test kit and tell you to mail it back to them within 48 hours or something along those lines.

So really, if you’re only in the country for a short period of time and get selected for testing, you could just wait until close to the end of the 48 hour window before sending it back?

Or just skip it altogether.

I am not necessary in favor of make travel more easy for unvaccinated travelers (at least those without medical reasons), however 2 tests and 14 days of quarantine is absolutely ridiculous, when the incubation period for omicron is like 3 days...
On test on day 3 would be way enough and save some public money.

Just got a V on my ArriveCAN submission.

I see from above that means it couldn't verify it, should I be worried?

EU PLF, SPTH and Verifly have all been able to verify my vaccine QR Codes before so I was a little surprised!

I have an NHS England vaccination (and recovery) certificate with 3 doses (though I was only allowed to upload the first two) + the positive PCR Result from March.

Thank you .
