YYZ transborder connection

I am flying YUL-YYZ-ORD. I read in a thread from a year or so ago that there are not NEXUS kiosks when connecting in Toronto. The advice was to go out and enter the transborder area with the non-connecting passengers.

Is this still the case in Toronto? As a NEXUS card holder, what do you think the best course of action is?

According to https://www.aircanada.com/us/en/aco/...ort/ca-us.html you should be able to have access to Global Entry machines when you do a domestic-us connection

Going to USA is fine for Nexus. It is the Canadian customs on the way back that doesn’t have Nexus (unless that has changed recently).

There are definitely Global Entry machines for this connection.

Ouch. That's not good. I usually fly direct. One of the best things about having NEXUS is the arrival in Montreal. Lesson learned.

Thanks, everyone, for the answers.

I thought I remembered seeing Nexus machines in YYZ terminal 3 last month...

As this is a YYZ question rather than Air Canada or Aeroplan specific it's been relocated to the Canada forum for further discussion.

YYZ T1 (Air Canada and *A) has GE doing domestic to US. There is not yet NEXUS in the US/Intl to Domestic direction, although Pearson said they are coming but I would not hold my breath until the construction on the new secure corridor is done.

YUL has GE going domestic to US and and also NEXUS in the US/Intl to Domestic direction.

One can still go through normal arrivals and clear security.

The issue for me is whether or not I can use a NEXUS kiosk arriving on an Air Canada flight from Chicago. It appears that I cannot. I am not sure what you mean about "going through normal arrivals to clear security."

Actually, no. It looks like the GE kiosks are almost ready to go, but, as of last Saturday, everyone goes through the same routine with the regular kiosks and then a chat with an officer.

To paraphrase, the only way you can currently use Nexus on a connection in YYZ terminal 1 is to go through the regular customs area and then to reenter the secure area as if you were starting in Toronto.

It depends on the time of day, but it has always been better for me to stay in the secure area.

Hmm... I have definitely used Global Entry kiosks at YUL. But this was not for a connection. I originated at YUL.

Ah, I see. Thank you for clarifying that.

Bumping up rather than opening a new thread.

I am looking at some 1:10 (YUL) to 1:45 (YVR and YYZ) transborder connections. How doable are they in the current climate without Nexus, etc.?

Also, does having checked luggage make a difference? I recall having to take our checked bags to the transborder section when flying direct out of YEG. Wondering if we'd have to collect them and recheck at the connecting airport.
