Via Rail Status Extension
 

Checked my Canadian email today and came across this:

Total spend last year (Apr 1,2018 thru Mar 31, 2019) was $886.80 CAD with (re)qualification of Via Rail Privilege being at $1000 CAD. FYI for the year prior I spent approximately $1,700 CAD to qualify for Privilege. Unsure what criteria Via uses to determine whether someone should re-qualify if they're below the threshold (i.e. within $200 and previous member year before?). If you travel Via Rail somewhat frequently and don't have one of their Preference frequent travellers cards now might be a good time to sign up, then call up Via Rail to get your last 12 months of travel credited to the account. The coupons one gets for being a member in the program are worth the hassle (~2000 Via preference points which is good for 5 one-way trips between Windsor and Toronto as a student IIRC)

I've had VIA Rail re-qualify my Privilege status a couple times in the last few years when I was below $1000 CAD in travel spend. I hope they would do similarly for Premium, but I don't know what the spend threshold is for either level.
