More Canadian Aviation Documentaries

Spotted this on the 'Tube earlier today:

- 1 hour - covers the history and then present (1984) state of WardAir. Quoting Mr. Ward whilst speaking to the regulators:

Regulator : Do you just want the gravy routes Mr. Ward?
Mr. Ward: What's so gravy about it? You get 19 cents it is I think per passenger miles if you go from Toronto to Vancouver. You get 29 cents per passenger mile if you go from Yellowknife to Edmonton. 31 cents per passenger mile if you go from Montreal to Frobisher. Nothing gravy there... that's where the big money is in the Northern routes! That's where the rip off is!

NFB also
which has the various documentaries NFB has published over the years including on the Bombardier Challenger.

Safe Travels,

As this has nothing whatsoever to do with either Air Cnada or Aeroplan the thread has been relocated to the Canada forum for further discussion.

That's really impressive.

At least one web site lists take off field length of about 10,000 feet for a 200.

I would imagine the plane wouldn't be fully loaded though (at least fuel wise) considering it's a short hope to HNL from YYJ. OTOH, apparently WardAir had the exclusive cargo contract for Hawaii at that time implying the belly might have been pretty well filled with goods.

Apparently whatever they did, it worked!
