BC ferries one way free

Hello.

I was unable to gleen this from the BC ferries website: Which routes require a ticket only in one direction, and which direction is the "free" one?

For example: When going between Swartz Bay and Fulford Harbour, the trip departing from Fulford to Swartz Bay does not require a ticket.

There are more routes like this. Which ones?

From personal experience -

- Bowen Island to Horseshoe Bay
- Vesuvius to Crofton
- Langdale to Horseshoe Bay
- Earl's Cove to Saltery Bay
- Denman Island to Buckley Bay
- Denman Island to Hornby Island
- Quadra Island to Campbell River
- Quadra Island to Cortes Island

There are likely others, such as the ferries to Sointula and Alert Bay, but I don't have personal experience with those.

The folks at https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowForum..._Columbia.html could likely provide the full list.

Thank you. Just to make sure: The directions you mention are the free ones?

Yes, but in every case you have to have paid to get there.

For example, Bowen Island to Horseshoe Bay is 'free' but you have to pay to get to Bowen in the first place (unless you get there on a private boat).

Ditto the routes off the sunshine coast.
