Victoria, Canada to Europe - direct flight?

Hi folks... please can you tell me... are there any direct flights for Victoria to any destinations in Europe... if so, is there somewhere I can easily look at all these options online? Thanks.

There are no direct flights from Victoria to any destination in Europe. Everything would require at least one connection in places like Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, or Seattle.

Ah, semantics, semantics .....

There's a good chance that there is a direct flight to Europe, but it sounds like what you are looking for is nonstop flight, of which there are none.

Here's a quick link to WikiTravel page which seems fairly up to date.

Again, semantics

A direct flight can be on the same plane with a stop like Southwest likes to do or connecting like when I used to fly to Tokyo from DFW with the same flight number, but change of planes in SFO.

Or San Francisco.

I personally HATE to fly a really long route, so like to break it up and stretch my legs when changing planes, but not everyone likes that.

Yeah I just assume when people say "direct" they mean non-stop, but I agree that it's open for interpretation. However, I'm fairly certain there aren't even any Southwest-like stops anywhere where you don't change planes and/or flight numbers. Connecting there are lots of options, including San Francisco which I forgot to mention. Thanks for the reminder! I'm the same way with flights. That, and since I fly YYJ-YHZ a lot, breaking it up into multi-segments mean I avoid AC Rouge

Sorry, for clarity, by 'direct' I meant a flight where you don't have to change plans (even if does indeed involve a stop).

My son - who is 13 years old - is due to go on a school exchange for 6 weeks. The 'done thing' appears to be that they make this trip on their own. I know there are child minders who can help with this kind of thing, but...

I'm based in the UK and was just thinking that, if I could go and spend the weekend with him in a European destination, I could then see to it that he boards a plane that he won't have to get off until he reaches his destination. I thought I'd since seen somewhere that Westjet did some Victoria to Frankfurt, but maybe I got that wrong or it involved a stop.

So, I guess my question really should have been: is it possible to fly from anywhere in Europe to Victoria, without changing planes? Thanks.

Wikipedia has an up-to-date list of non-stops.

Does not appear that way.

And WestJet's 737s can get to/from UK, but the continent would be a little too far.

You can also strike UA from the list, as they (fairly) recently adapted nonstop only for unaccompanied minors.

Not sure what AC's policy is for minors, but with a nonstop 767 (the dreaded Rouge) from Toronto, you could get to Victoria from almost anywhere in Europe with one change of plane.

And I would avoid US transit, as that is a major pain even for adults @:-)

Another possibility is flying to Vancouver nonstop and having minders pick up your son there, though that would involved another flight to YYJ, or a ferry ride (via car or bus), neither of which are particularly cheap.

For this, the cheapest viable option would be to take the BCF Connector service from Vancouver airport to Downtown Victoria. It's about $50 for a student and $75 for an adult. Not "cheap" as EmailKid mentioned, but likely about half the price of paying for a YVR-YYJ flight. But they use coach buses and drive right onto and off of the ferries, and take you right from the Vancouver airport directly to downtown Victoria.

When I mentioned flying to YVR, I was thinking that person associated with school could be there to personally escort to Victoria.

Just noticed that AC will have a nonstop seasononal flight from Dublin, though on their Rouge product with reduced legroom.

This route is operated by Boeing 767.

The longest nonstop out of YYJ is to YYZ I believe.

It is stated that YYJ customs "can handle aircraft with no more than 450 passengers"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victor...tional_Airport

But having been in there myself, I really believe they need a bigger facility to handle transatlantic/transpacific traffic. The current one is really small.

Unlike other major airports where you go passport control->luggage->customs; pax claim their luggage and then line up to see the officer who does the passport check/scanning and customs questionings at the the same time @ YYJ. There are no passport control booths pre-baggage claim.
