After Aeroplan... a second "churning" rewards program - suggestions?

Loaded question - sure.. but simply put.. assuming I am sticking with Aeroplan as a churning points accumulator (using them is another story), but I want to fly the Delta/American/Hawaiian/etc group with rewards redemptions - are there any non-flying options for Canadians?

Mostly - available card churning options , or heck, even options on another CC which is not churnable, but gives nice bonus miles with sign up. I see Alaska air bonus is gone (for now??)

I can start to pick some of my flights on these airlines - but that won't accumulate the miles quickly enough on its own. I simply don't fly that much - only 5-6 times per year.

I've been with Aeroplan for as long as I can remember, but even 16 months ago getting to HNL was easy on United - now, my options seem to come up rouge "business" - and the charges are killer...

I'm just looking for a rough direction to start looking... getting frustrated with trying to use my 480,000 Aeroplan miles...

Why is the Alaska CC bonus gone?
Alaska has AA as a partner, and their own redemptions to Hawaii are an option.
Too bad Delta is gone.

Aeroplan is a decent credit card program in Canada, but putting your eggs in one basket has never been a good idea.

Alaska card is not gone, except in Quebec. 25k on signup, and they are the most valuable miles period.

Also, while it lasts, I would collect SPG points because not only do they transfer to most airlines, u can use em at Starwood, or at 1:3 ratio at Marriott.

Indeed, flying United is your best bet to use Aeroplan to get to HNL, but if you want J you'll likely hafta overnight in Cali.

Cheers

SPG

I would definitely get on the SPG Amex - great sign up bonus and the points are super flexible; so you can transfer points to an airline that would be best for the redemption you are looking at. For example, Canada-Mexico, your best bet is Air France which views Mexico as part of NA and therefore requires only 25k points roundtrip.

Forgive the ignorance, but what do you mean Delta is gone? I used Alaska FF miles on Delta in March. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding you

On the Alaska MBNA card - I cannot find one with the 25k bonus..

There is a thread in the Alaska forum about the card.

Delta is no longer a partner as of May 1.

Review the MilesBuzz! Canada thread.

The wiki reviews many Canadian credit card offers, and the discussion thread covers many bonus point offers. You'll find some cards that are right for you.

As this isn't about Aeroplan but rather feedback solicited on another program it's been moved to the Canada forum for further discussion although as noted there are other venues in FT to research miles earning avenues.
