Prince Edward County wines?
 

We're rather short of Ontario wines out west. Did read the Bloomberg article about PEC wines in December and found some Closson Chase wines (rather, exactly 1, a Chardonnay which turned out to be from the Niagara peninsula).

Will be in PEC for a night in early May and wondering what are the wineries with the nicer wines (I focus more/exclusively on the product rather than the setting) in PEC, other than Closson Chase and Norma Hardie? Looking to buy a few cases to haul back to B.C. (in a repositioning RV!)

I've had some rather nice BC chardonnays in Vancouver restaurants, but I don't remember the labels. Are the ones from Ontario better? My impression is that the Niagara region is associated more with their ice wine, which I frankly consider to be disappointing for the price.

Very different, and more complex and minerally than B.C. chardonnays (which we've given up drinking) but that was for the one bottle (Closson Chase the Brock 2014) that was available in B.C.

Agree with you about ice wines overall. They seem to be sweet with no complexity. I did get a bottle of central Okanagan pinot noir ice wine that tasted like toffee. There is something to be said about mouldy grapes.

I'm looking to savoring the PEC chardonnays and pinot noirs. With a very few exceptions, the latter are over extracted, very light and very tannic. Bouquet if any then no flavour for the most part.
