Hotel / AirBnB recommendations in Toronto?

Looking to head to TO to catch the Leafs vs Habs game in February. Haven't been in years and don't know the hotel situation anymore. What are some good (not Shangri-La) options or should I look at airbnb?

hotel option

There are a lot of hotel options within easy walking distance of the AC Centre - so unless you have a great AirBnb deal/discount coupon, I would stick to:
- Sheraton Centre/Westin (recommend spghotescapes each Wed)
- Delta;
- Fairmont Royal York;
- Hilton.
The Shangri La is also close, but in another price league?
As an added bonus, walking in and out of the hotel you will see many fans wearing team jerseys. The repartee alone makes the hotel stay worthwhile!
Go Leafs Go!

I have stayed near the AC Centre for concerts in AirBnb plenty of times, i always find decent rates (below 100 CAD) for a 1 bedroom condos.

just be prepared to have the airbnb cancelled if someone in the building you go to rats out the neighbor for listing on airbnb which is a violation of many by-laws. like i do!!

The concierge and guard will also deny airbnb users entry even if they have cards/fobs.

In Jr's building, they formed a neighborhood watch to monitor airbnb to cut down on security cost.

I agree with the others, I have heard so many instances of Air B&B related issues in condo buildings recently in Toronto I wouldn't risk it. Now if you can find a listing in a more traditional house, I wouldn't have a problem.

I am going to Toronto for a wedding in June and have a choice between staying at the Shangri La or the Fairmont (yay corporate rates!). While I am a Premier member at Fairmont, I already have enough bookings to get to Premier status again (I am not getting anywhere close to Platinum), and just looking at the photos, it seems like the Shangri La is on another level...

Shangri La, absolutely (unless the rest of the wedding party are at the Fairmont, in which case, being with friends trumps hotel choice!)

Ended up booking at the Trump (corporate rates are pretty good).
