Using Kiosks in Canada - Secondary Inspection Codes
 

At YYZ, it seems that both US and Canadian passport holders can use Kiosks to complete the entry formality. However, many people are send to the secondary inspection; among the folks sent to secondary, there are various codes on the entry form. I've seen x22, 98, maybe 67. What do the codes mean?

By the way, I google around, and did not see similar topic.

Thanks. However, the document was from CBP for entering US. My question was when US-passport-holder entering Canada and quite a few got a code printed on the Canadian entry form and were sent to talk to an officer.

I'll move the thread to the Canada forum where such topics are generally discussed.

If it's the same codes as is/was typically written on the declaration card when screened by an agent...
When I asked my friend about it, IIRC, they said the codes rotate (daily?) and they flag to person collecting the cards who gets sent to secondary and indicate what the area of interest is.

Those are random numbers. CBSA uses a more intricate way of documenting the form to let the secondary officer to know what to look for compared to CBP.

Numbers change on a daily basis btw.

The Numbers vary but there are more obvious markers too than the numbers. For instance, I got IMM 1-1 on my last two NEXUS kiosk receipts entering Canada by Air above the V-#-#-# line. I've heard (via other threads here) that you can get V-IR or V-RR instead of the numbers for secondary. I've never received a comment or additional screening based off of the numbers and have no idea what they actually convey. I do check them and don't recall any particular number that's common given my travel patterns and number of checked bags being consistent.

V = Visitor to Canada, R = Resident is my understanding as well.
