Montreal dining

Suggestions on romantic, quiet dining in montreal please. Not picky on food but would like to avoid American, French, Chinese or Thai cuisines. Will be staying near Le Centre Sheraton. Thx

Quiet and romantic. Spanish/Catalan, perhaps with a bit of French, but hey, it's Montreal. http://lespyrenees.ca/

I would recommend Bouillon Bilk. It's a more fusion cuisine but with 'French' influences according to the website. As it's Montreal, not likely you are going to escape from some French food.

I had a very pleasant Italian meal at Quattro in the old town last September. It was a fairly casual place, but the evening we went it was mostly couples, quiet, and good food, and some interesting wines.

My recommendations...

Restaurant Da Emma. Italian in old Montreal. very good. 777 De la Commune O.

Joe Beef. (seafood, steakhouse, always booked since it only seats 75 or so, though if you're alone or you want to go at an early seating, they might squeeze you in) 2491 Notre Dame West.

Thanks for these extra recommendations! I'm looking thru each one and hope I can try out a few during my extremely short stay.

I LOVE Joe Beef- but it is about as removed as "quiet/romantic" as you can get. Fantastic restaurant however- just make a ressie far in advance.

Very good Steak house right next to the Sheraton http://www.queuedecheval.com/#

I second Bullion Birk also. https://www.yelp.ca/biz/bouillon-bil...ic+Restaurants

pity you are ruling out French places as most of my faves in Montreal are french

If not ruling out French restaurants, where would you recommend?

Romantic, very good food= Le Club Chasse et Peche
Romantic very off the beaten path (take a cab or UBER) Le Grain de Sel.
Bistro- Au Petite Extra, not super romantic but I love the food.
and you really shuold try Pied du Couchon and Joe Beef as well.
The concierge at your hotel will be helpful making reservations, be flexible and give them enough time to make it work.

Another vote for Au Pied du Cochon. Reservations highly recommended. Make it for 5:00 p.m. so that you can digest the rich food before bedtime.

that is sad. We had a great group dinner there and the chef was as charming as his food was delicious.

Another suggestion: http://maisonpublique.com/

Maison Publique is a literal translation/play on the (British) English term for a pub or Public House. I was there in October with a regular and it was spectacular. The place is not much to look at, either on the inside or the outside, but the food is superb.

A few minutes by cab from centre-ville.

I agree about Au Pied Du Cuchon. If you're with somebody, don't sit at the bar, the open kitchen can be noisy.

If you are up for a real nice bar, the bar at the Omni is a classy joint.
