YEG Preclearance time
Looking for advice from Edmonton (YEG) travellers on US preclearence cut off times.
Trying to catch a Thursday United 3:35pm flight to ORD. I have a meeting in the domestic departures terminal post-security section until 2:30. I'll already have my boarding pass and no checked luggage. I assume I will have to leave security and go back out. Can I get through US preclearance at 2:45 in time for the flight (both from a immigration clearance process and will they even allow me through so close to the flight time)? If it matters, I'm a U.S. citizen and don't have Global Entry. Thanks in advance! |
What does UA say is the check in cutoff time at YEG for flights to the USA?

Thanks for your reply.
I didn't find anything specific to YEG (other than counter times). On this page, United just says 60 min for checked bags and boarding ends 30 min prior to departure. https://www.united.com/web/en-US/con...s/default.aspx So I should be good as long as I'm onboard by 2:59. Just wondering how long it's going to take to go through preclearance at that point, along with I'm assuming another security check point. |
I take the afternoon YEG-ORD pretty often. I have Nexus, so I get through security in ~2 minutes and through CBP in ~1. Generally, I'd suggest arriving at the airport 30 minutes before boarding time as long as you have your BP and don't need to check bags. They have a TV showing the estimated wait time to CBP (YEG is bag drop -> security -> CBP), and I've never seen it be more than 30 minutes (I've rarely seen it go above 15). FWIW, boarding tends not to start until T-35, but it's done pretty quickly.
